What are Clothes Moths?
Clothes Moths / Clothing Moths (also refered to as webbing clothes moths) are probably the most troublesome moth found in the UK, with clothes moth infestations becoming increasingly widespread. The presence of clothes moths in wardrobes is usually first detected by finding holes in your clothes, as the moths themselves are seldom seen. Clothes Moths live on something called 'keratin', a substance found in natural fibres such as wool, cashmere, silk, viscose, furs etc. As a result, it is unfortunately often your favourite and more expensive clothes that are targeted by clothes moths.
The damage to clothes is actually caused by the moth larvae rather then the adult clothes moth, which is why people often say that they haven't seen any actual moths. To reach full development, the clothes moth goes through four life stages in its life cycle: egg, larva, pupa and adult. It is the larvae eating the fibres that leaves holes in clothes.

What about Clothes Moth Traps?
Demi-Diamond Moth Pheromone Traps are a useful method of detecting moth activity amongst the Tineola species; and serve their purpose in this way. However, clothes moth traps will not control an infestation or kill the destructive stage of the clothes moth - the larvae - and therefore they are best used in conjunction with other moth killer products.
What about Moth Repellers or Moth Repellents?
Again, moth repellers or moth repellents will only repel - they will not control an infestation nor will they kill moth larvae and so likewise cannot be classed as a moth killer product. If you do not currently have a clothes moth problem but want to maintain control and ensure your wardrobes remain clothes moth free, the Pest Expert Moth Killer Cassettes and Strips listed below remain effective for up to 6 months. Unlike many of the strong, often unpleasant smelling products (like moth balls), these moth killing products are both odourless and non-staining.
The Clothes Moth spray will kill any clothes moth it comes into contact with, whilst creating a lasting residue that knocks down any other moths who might find their way into the wardrobe. The clothes moth spray will also act as a moth larvae killer.
