Name: Common Clothes Moth or Webbing Clothes Moth

Binomial Name: Tineola Bisselliella

Length: Between 0.8-1.9cm.

Forewings: Buff gold in colour with a fringe of shimmering white long hair around the margins.

Hindwings: Yellowish white with a fringe of shimmering white long hair around the margins.

 

Thorax: Yellowish Brown.

Abdomen: Yellowish Brown.

Other Physical Characteristics: Reddish golden hairs on top of the head. Unlike other keratin consuming moths the Common Clothes Moth does not have spots on its wings.

 

 

Name: Tapestry Moth

Binomial Name: Trichophaga tapetzella

Length: Between 1-2.2cm.

Forewings: Blackish brown towards the head leading to iridescent white marked with grey brown blotching.

Hindwings: Iridescent white marked with grey blotching.

Thorax: Dark brown.

Abdomen: Pale brown.

Other Physical Characteristics: White hairs on top of the head.
